Service Provider Registration and Role Approval Process Overview
Essential steps for service provider registration, role approval, and employee access so that sellers can grant service providers permissions.
This guide covers all required steps that service providers must perform to prepare sellers to be able to grant the service provider permissions in Seller Central. After a service provider completes these steps, sellers can grant the service provider permissions in Seller Central for the Seller Central roles that Amazon approved for the service provider.
Critical
If a service provider doesn't complete the Seller Central role approval process, sellers can't grant the service provider permissions in Seller Central. Service providers must first complete the role approval process in Solution Provider Portal and receive Amazon's approval for the roles. Without this approval, sellers will find the corresponding role permissions greyed out in Seller Central and won't be able to grant access to the service provider. Roles must be approved in Solution Provider Portal before those roles become available for sellers to grant in Seller Central.
How service provider authorization works
Service providers create one company account in Solution Provider Portal. The service provider administrator registers the company, applies and gets approved for Seller Central roles, and invites employees to join the same account. This process enables sellers to give a one-time authorization to the service provider organization. After a service provider is authorized by a seller, the service provider administrator can then independently manage access permissions for their own employees.
Key principle: Create only one Solution Provider Portal account per service provider company. Service provider employees join this company account—service provider employees don't create separate accounts.
Key points
Before you read the detailed steps, keep the following essential points in mind:
- One account per service provider company: Service provider administrators create the Solution Provider Portal account, and the service provider employees join the account by invitation from the administrator.
- Service provider employees must be invited: Service provider administrators must invite service provider team members.
- Seller Central role approval is required: Service providers must complete role approval for sellers to grant permissions. Sellers can grant service providers permissions in Seller Central using the process described in Learn How Sellers Authorize Service Providers, and role-based permissions will no longer appear greyed out.
- Identity verification is required: Both service provider administrators and service provider employees must complete identity verification.
- Email addresses must be correct:
- For administrators: If you currently access Seller Central accounts as a secondary user, use the email address that you use to sign in to Seller Central. If you're new to Amazon, use any valid email address of your choice.
- For employees: Administrators should use the employee's Seller Central email address if they have one, or ask new employees for their preferred email address.
- In any case, this email address will become the sign-in email for both Solution Provider Portal and future Seller Central access.
Service provider administrator: Complete company registration
As the service provider administrator, you must complete the following steps in order. If you stop after identity verification, sellers can't grant you permissions in Seller Central.
Step 1: Create your company account
-
Navigate to Solution Provider Portal.
-
Create your Solution Provider Portal account as follows:
- If you currently access Seller Central accounts as a secondary user, use the email address that you use to sign in to Seller Central.
- If you're new to Amazon, use any valid email address of your choice.
This email address will become your sign-in email for both Solution Provider Portal and future Seller Central access.
-
If you already have a Solution Provider Portal account as a Developer, add Offer Services to the solution type setup in your profile. To do so, choose the gear icon, select Solution Type Setup, check the Offer Services box, and then choose Apply.
Step 2: Verify your identity
Complete the identity verification process. For details, refer to Verify Your Identity in Solution Provider Portal.
Step 3: Apply for and get approved for Seller Central roles
This step is the critical step that enables sellers to subsequently provide you permissions.
-
Select the category of service that you provide and apply for the Seller Central role(s) that you require access to. For details, refer to Complete the Service Provider profile.
-
Wait for approval (processing can take up to 10 business days).
-
Verify your approval status before proceeding.
Important
Until you are approved for roles, sellers can't grant you permissions in Seller Central. The role-based permissions appear greyed out.
For complete registration instructions, refer to Register as a new service provider.
Step 4: Invite service provider employees
After identity verification is complete, you can perform the following steps to invite employees to the Solution Provider Portal account that you created for your business.
-
In Solution Provider Portal, navigate to the User Permissions page.
-
Choose Add User.
-
Provide the service provider employee's name and email address.
Important
Use the appropriate email address for each employee: if the employee currently accesses Seller Central accounts as a secondary user, use that email address. If the employee is new to Amazon, ask them for an email address. This email address will become the employee's sign-in email for both Solution Provider Portal and future Seller Central access. For complete instructions, refer to Add employees to your Solution Provider Portal account.
Service provider employees: Join your company account
As a service provider employee, you join the service provider company's existing Solution Provider Portal account. Do not create a separate account.
To receive an invitation
If you haven't received an invitation to join the Solution Provider Portal account, take the following steps.
- Contact the service provider administrator and ask the service provider administrator to invite you to the company's Solution Provider Portal account.
- Provide your Seller Central email address (the one associated with your secondary user permissions) to the service provider administrator.
- Wait for the invitation email.
- After you receive the invitation email from the service provider administrator, complete identity verification. For details, refer to Verify Your Identity in Solution Provider Portal.
Troubleshooting common issues
If you encounter problems, refer to the following issues and solutions.
A seller can't grant a service provider permissions in Seller Central
Problem: The service provider's role-based permissions appear greyed out in Seller Central.
Solution: In Solution Provider Portal, the service provider administrator must apply for and receive approval for the relevant Seller Central roles before the seller can provide permissions to those roles in the seller's Seller Central account.
A service provider employee can't access seller accounts
Problem: A service provider employee completed identity verification but still can't access seller accounts.
Solution: To resolve the access issue:
- Confirm that your administrator delegated the appropriate permissions to you within Solution Provider Portal.
- Ensure that you are signing in to Seller Central using the email address that is associated with your Solution Provider Portal account (permissions are linked to this email address).
A service provider employee didn't receive an invitation
Problem: A service provider employee is waiting for a Solution Provider Portal invitation.
Solution: The service provider employee should contact the service provider administrator to request an invitation. The invited email address will become the employee's sign-in email for both Solution Provider Portal and future Seller Central access.
