Appstore Ratings and Reviews
Navigate ratings and reviews in the Selling Partner Appstore.
Sellers can leave ratings and reviews for an app in the Selling Partner Appstore using a link on the app's detail page. Ratings and reviews can help sellers decide if an app is right for them.
The following policies govern activities related to ratings and reviews:
- Community Guidelines: Guidelines for Amazon community participation.
- Conditions of Use: Amazon's policy for using Amazon products and services.
App review request process
The Selling Partner Appstore allows software partners to request reviews of their applications solutions at broad scale. We do not allow targeted requests to individual users. Refer to the following for specific guidance on appropriate behavior and the approvals process. To request reviews of your application:
-
Draft the communication you want to send: Whether a newsletter, forum post, or blog post, draft what you’d like us to review. To minimize edits and decrease review time, refer to the following writing guidelines and FAQ.
-
Submit the communication for review: Submit the communication as a Word document to [email protected] for review and approval at least two weeks before the desired release date. When submitting your communication for review:
- Use the following subject line: Selling Partner Appstore: [Insert company name].
- Clearly note your desired release date.
- Clearly note your distribution audience and plans.
Requests that do not follow the preceding protocol will not receive a response or be reviewed.
-
Receive feedback and approvals: Amazon will review your communication and provide feedback through tracked changes.
- If you agree with the edits, accept the changes, mark final in the file name, and send back to Amazon with your agreement to the changes stated within the email.
- If you do not agree with the edits, accept the changes you find acceptable, track additional changes, and respond on the same email chain. This will be your second and final round of edits.
-
Issue the communication: Upon approval, you can issue your communication.
Ratings and review FAQ
Can I request a review?
You can announce that Sellers who have used your application can leave ratings and reviews through broadcast channels such as blog posts or press releases. You cannot target or solicit reviews from individual selling partners. For more information on how to solicit reviews or report fake reviews, refer to the Selling Partner Appstore Communication Guidelines. You must adhere to these guidelines for any communications related to ratings or reviews.
Follow all Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Guidelines when soliciting reviews from selling partners. For example, do not ask for reviews only from selling partners you think will provide positive reviews. Do not offer incentives or conditions for leaving a review.
The Selling Partner Appstore Communication Guidelines are consistent with Amazon.com guidelines. For more information about community guidelines for Amazon.com, refer to Ratings and reviews in the Selling Partner Appstore.
Who can review my app?
Only a verified user of an app can leave a review for your app. Users can become verified within one month of using the app, once the app regularly calls APIs on their behalf.
How are ratings calculated?
Amazon calculates an app's star ratings using a machine learning model rather than a raw data average. The machine learning model takes into account multiple factors.
What should I do if I think a review is fake?
If you believe that a review or rating has been submitted in violation of Amazon guidelines, you can report the violation by clicking the Report abuse link near the review. Include the reason you believe the rating or review violates the guidelines. You can also email Amazon Community.
Why can’t my selling partner leave a review?
There are several reasons why a selling partner might not be able to leave a review:
- They are not signed into their Seller Central account. Only signed-in selling partners are able to leave reviews for apps.
- They have not registered for the app. Sellers can authorize and register for the app through the detail page.
- They do not have the proper permissions to leave a review or rating. All users with "Admin" or "View and Edit" rights can leave reviews.
- They are not yet eligible to leave a review. Sellers attempting to leave a review must be verified users of the app. Selling partners can become verified within one month of using the app, once the app regularly calls APIs on their behalf.
How can my selling partner get permission to leave a review?
In order to leave a review on the Selling Partner Appstore, the selling partner must have "Admin" or "View and Edit" rights and either be the Primary user or have permissions granted by the Primary user. To change permissions settings, the Primary user must navigate to the gear icon in the top right of their Seller Central homepage. Then, they must choose User Permissions and Manage Permissions. Finally, they must choose View & Edit, which is next to Selling Partner Appstore.
Why wasn’t my selling partner's review accepted?
If the review has not been published after two weeks, it’s possible that it did not meet Community Guidelines or was submitted in a language not supported by the store.
