Website Guidelines for Public Developers and Service Providers

Learn website guidelines before you apply for SP-API or service provider access.

Before you apply for Selling Partner API (SP-API) access or service provider access, review the following guidelines to ensure that your website meets the necessary requirements.

These guidelines are subject to change, and meeting these guidelines does not guarantee approval. Additional requirements might apply based on your specific use case and applicable regulations.

Accessibility and functionality

Ensure that your website is fully functional and easily accessible to all potential users:

  • Your website must be accessible at all times and must not display "under construction" messages, trigger security warnings, or contain placeholder text.
  • The information in the website must be available without the need for authentication. Potential users must not be required to log in to view information about your app.
  • You must build and maintain your website independently. For example, your website can't be part of another appstore.
  • Your website must contain sufficient text for accessibility, clarity, and transparency. Your website must not primarily contain non-textual elements.
  • Your website must not have broken links or low-resolution images. Every link on your website must lead to a relevant page, Images must be clear and optimized for fast loading.

Identification and contact information

Include clear company identification and contact details:

  • Your website must clearly display your company's name, app's name, and logo, and reflect the company identity that you listed in your developer profile or service provider submission.
  • Your website must include a contact mechanism to ensure that potential users can easily reach out for support or inquiries. You can include links to social media, but your website must include at least one direct contact method, such as a phone number, an email address, or a contact form.

Security features

Implement appropriate security measures. At a minimum:

  • Your website must use the HTTPS protocol and have a valid SSL certificate.
  • Your website must not contain excessive pop-ups, ads, or redirects to other websites.
  • Your website must include a comprehensive privacy policy that outlines how user data is collected, used, stored, protected, shared, and deleted in compliance with Amazon's Data Protection Policies (DPP) and applicable regional regulations.

Product information

Provide clear details about your offering:

  • Your website must provide a comprehensive description of your app or service's features and functionalities in accordance with the type of access that you are requesting.
  • Your website must clearly display your app or service's pricing structure. If the core offering is free but includes paid add-on services, consider detailing the costs of these additional services. For quote-based pricing models, clearly indicate this approach and consider providing a pricing calculator or sample scenarios to help potential users understand potential costs.

Brand and marketing

Your website must not contain trademark violations or unclear marketing claims:

  • Your website must not include any trademark violations in your app or service name, URL, images, logos or written content.
  • Your website must comply with Amazon's Trademark Usage Guidelines.
  • The app or service name displayed on your website must not consist solely of a generic term (for example, "Data Connector" or "Seller Shipping"). You must accompany any generic terms with a company/brand name (for example, "[Company Name] Data Connector").
  • Your website must not include any unverified claims such as "#1 app," "best app," or "the only app that offers [a certain feature]". If user reviews contain this type of language, it must be clear that these are the users' personal opinions.
  • Your website must not suggest any unauthorized endorsements, especially if the endorsements imply a direct partnership with Amazon. If you're part of a program that has a badge (such as Amazon Ads), you can display that badge in the website.

Policy compliance

Ensure that your website aligns with Amazon's policies. For example:

  • Your website and app must comply with Amazon's Acceptable Use Policy, Data Protection Policy, and Amazon Services API Developer Agreement. To review these agreements, refer to Policies and Agreements.
