Step 3: Create a Developer Profile
Create a developer profile to manage your preferences and permissions.
Before you develop applications that integrate with the Selling Partner API (SP-API), create a developer profile in the Solution Provider Portal.
Tips for success
- Have your developer type (public or private) in mind.
- Know the roles that you want to apply for. You can apply for additional roles in the future if you need to.
- Provide detailed responses.
- Respond promptly to questions and follow up if you don't hear back within expected timeframes.
Prerequisites
Before you create a developer profile, follow Step 2: Create a Solution Provider Portal Account.
Steps to create a developer profile
Warning
Only create a developer profile in the Solution Provider Portal if you are a developer.
To create a developer profile, take the following steps:
-
Sign in to Solution Provider Portal with your Amazon credentials.
-
Choose Get started after your identity is verified.
-
On the Developer Profile page:
-
For Contact Information, enter your organization name, website, country, and the primary contact.
-
For Data Access, select public or private developer.
For details about public and private developers, refer to the definition of developer. -
Enter your developer ID. If you're already registered as a developer in Seller Central or Vendor Central, you can find your developer ID there.
-
For Roles, select the roles that you want to assume. For details about roles, refer to Roles in the Selling Partner API. If you select restrictive roles, the form expands to include additional questions about your use case.
-
For Use Cases, describe how you intend to use the SP-API.
-
For Security Controls, carefully review and answer all the questions about your security practices. Your answers should accurately reflect how you implement the security requirements outlined in the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), the Data Protection Policy (DPP), and the Developer Agreement, which you can find at Policies and Agreements. Be sure to provide complete and accurate responses.
-
After you review the policies and agreements, choose the check box to acknowledge your agreement.
-
-
Choose Register.
Amazon reviews your application and sends you an email to the email address associated with your developer profile. The review time depends on the roles that you request:- Standard (non-restricted) roles: Amazon performs a basic review of your business requirements and verifies your security measures. This review process typically takes one to two weeks to complete.
- Restricted roles: For roles that involve PII, there is a three-stage review process:
- Business review: Amazon evaluates your technical implementation plans, assesses your business case, confirms your readiness to launch, and reviews your geographic coverage requirements.
- Security review: Amazon examines your information security controls, evaluates your data protection measures, and verifies your compliance documentation.
- Technical review: You meet with an Amazon solution architect to discuss your security architecture in detail and verify your specific security controls.
Next steps
While you wait for Amazon to approve your developer profile, you can proceed to Step 4: Register a Sandbox Application.
