Update: Battery compliance for Merchant Fulfillment Network (MFN)
Starting August 25, 2025, you must complete battery safety compliance questions when you create or edit any Fulfilled by Merchant product listings that contain batteries or battery-powered items.
When you create a listing, you will now see the following questions:
- Are batteries required?
If you answer yes, you will then see the following questions:
- Are batteries included?
- What is the battery cell composition?
You can find battery cell composition information on the battery, manufacturer’s label, or product packaging. If your battery type is not listed in List you products within Add products, select Other than listed and enter the composition manually.
Note: You cannot create or update listings without providing this battery information.
For more information, refer to Dangerous goods required information and documentation.
Additional information
When listing or converting a product to Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), sellers must provide complete and accurate dangerous goods (hazmat) information. This information can include whether the product is a battery, contains batteries, or is regulated as a dangerous good. You may be required to submit a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) or an exemption sheet for products that are battery-powered or contain no harmful chemicals. Missing or incorrect information can result in shipment delays, blocked listings, or inventory disposal.
To avoid delays, upload documents on the Manage dangerous goods classification page. Processing takes up to two business days. Products identified as dangerous goods in FBA centers without documentation may be disposed of at your cost.
