Notice of increase in mandatory attributes for select product types

We previously announced the requirement, which goes into effect August 16th, to enter attribute information for 25 attributes across 52 product types in the announcement Notification of mandatory attributes for select product types. In September, we will require 274 attributes across 200 product types.

What is changing?

Starting September 12, 2023, Amazon will require 274 attributes across 200 product types (PTs) in listings templates. This change will improve the customer buying experience by making the product attribute information available within Amazon's catalog. Selling Partners must enter attribute information for the identified product types when creating ASINs through the product upload page.

You can download the product type attribute list with the corresponding XSD categories in Microsoft Excel format (.xlsx).

Which marketplaces are affected?

This change applies to the US marketplace.

Who is affected?

Developers with applications that upload and update product listings using feeds based on the category-specific inventory file templates and XSDs are affected by this change.

What action is required?

If you have an application that is affected by this change, you must adjust your application workflow to the category-specific file templates and XSD templates listed in the product type attribute list.
